Hello to all my creative, furniture-loving, planet-saving friends.
Here’s the final newsletter for the year, and what a year it’s been…
As we say goodbye to the year 2023, it's impossible not to reflect on the whirlwind of experiences we endure, both professionally and socially. For me, the past year has brought more changes to my business and my journey of growth, challenges, and innovation. The furniture market, understandably quiet at times has demanded adaptability, and in true Jo style, I’ve embraced change and moved forward.
As we reflect on our memories and the pace at which time has slipped through our lives, it serves as a poignant reminder to enjoy every moment, what we do, and especially those around us. Saying goodbye to this busy year prompts us to cherish the lessons learned, celebrate the victories, and welcome the possibilities that lie ahead in the upcoming chapter. Life is a blessing, exciting, and what we make of it.
Here’s how 2023 started and progressed for me…
Stepping into 2023 with dance moves, good company, and a touch of Elvis magic!
Taking a break from the winter chill with a journey to Australia to spend time with family and friends.
Immersing myself in my work and the tranquility of the stunning Somerset countryside, finding inspiration and expressing creativity within the walls of my workshop.
Marking the milestone of turning 60 surrounded by friends, creating special memories, and embracing the journey ahead.
Admittedly, life isn't always flawless—sometimes we all experience those occasional 'bad hair' days. 😂
There have been Open Days and Market Days.
Next on the agenda was a house move (not planned), swiftly followed by relocating the business (a good move) into the unit next door. Gratefully, I had a helping hand along the way.
As my presence grows in the area, commissions keep rolling in, and sales are flourishing. So grateful for the support and recognition.
And so, here are—welcoming the close of 2023 with celebration and anticipation for the fresh start ahead!
My passion for Upcycling
My passion for this craft extends beyond the creative process itself; it resides in the unique mix of projects that come my way and the incredible individuals I have the privilege of meeting. Every piece of furniture carries with it a story waiting to be retold, and the thrill lies in the challenge of breathing new life into thttps://www.relovedbyjo.co.uk/abouthese forgotten narratives. The diversity of projects keeps me engaged and constantly pushes the boundaries of my creativity, from transforming timeworn sideboards into contemporary masterpieces to revitalizing discarded chairs with a touch of artistic flair.
Interacting with clients who share a passion for sustainability and a love for unique, personalised pieces fosters connections that extend beyond the workshop. The collaboration between creativity and the human connection makes my working world of upcycling furniture not just a job, but a fulfilling and enriching journey that constantly inspires and evolves.
Feeling blessed and grateful – how lucky am I to do what I love for a living?

Pass it On!
I admire and respect anyone who runs their own business, although extremely rewarding, it’s really hard work! So, in this section of my newsletter, I’d like to give a ‘shout out’ to people I use or come across who I think will be of benefit to you. You may not need their skills or products right now, but keep their details, you never know when you will.
I had the pleasure of visiting Ashwick and Oakhill Village Cafe recently, and it was a delightful experience! The coffee was excellent, and although I resisted the temptation, the aroma of the bacon rolls was heavenly. If you're local, it's a must-visit spot. Run by dedicated volunteers who do a fantastic job, the hall is also available for private events. Highly recommended!
Cafe opening times - Wednesdays and Saturdays 9.30 am - 3.30 pm.
